Plans.

I aim to scale the production of Pixel Engineer up. In the near future, I will:

+ produce more free resources under the Creative Commons license;
+ create more pixel art that is composed of details as opposed to silhouettes;
+ release sketches and experimental works.

A much-needed profile image for Pixel Engineer. Featuring an industrial city in the day.

Scaling.

Often, I do draw things on smaller scales. It allows me to inject many details into scenes. However, on this occasion, I wanted to experiment and push boundaries, so I focused on a very specific element instead.

This is dedicated to a very good friend of mine. Happy birthday!

Artistic progress.

I remain a flowering pixel artist. One of the reasons I initiated Pixel Engineer was to develop my artistic skill. So far, I am satisfied with my production.

Dimensions.

The works I post are all squares with dimensions defined by powers of two: 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, etc. My preference is inspired by computer data storage and memory.

This post includes my first 128x128 production. It is my most detailed work yet. I did indeed once work in a lab.

Features include: glassware (from left to right: three flasks, a beaker, a graduated cylinder, and a distillation column with a collection flask), an unidentified yellow liquid, clean beakers, ventilation grilles, electrical outlets, closed maintenance panels, an NFPA 704 information poster, a miscellaneous safety poster, piping with valves, and a fluorescent light with electrical wiring.

Licenses and policies.

Now that five works have been posted, it seems appropriate to discuss the licensing of my works. A Creative Commons license has been injected into Pixel Engineer (see bottom right). In short, credit must be given to Pixel Engineer if the work is displayed or used. It allows for distribution and adaptation of the work. Adaptations must be distributed under the same license. No commercial use is permitted.

Production frequency.

I desire to post original works on Pixel Engineer as often as possible. Many content creators publish their works on a weekly basis. I enjoy what I do and will continue to try posting multiple times a week. However, things may slow down from time to time.

Prolificness and experimentation.

I value prolificness and experimentation. Both are essential to an artist’s development. The artist discovers new techniques and refines their taste. I hope to be both prolific and relatively experimental in my art.

Nautical plaid.

Today’s pattern is a dark 64x64 plaid tile with a nautical theme. It is dedicated to my sailor sweetheart. I may release a light version in the future. The anchor I designed differs from conventional ones, giving this pattern some degree of uniquity.

Pixelstyles.

I am no highly skilled or technically proficient pixel artist. My style is very simple - silhouettes and distinct colours constitute its basis. I am inspired by nature and often draw to portray it.

I am incapable of producing any complex pixel art that one would enjoy in a detailed video game, for example. I am confident enough to say that if I took a long time and experimented, I would be able to develop a complete work. However, I do not have this time, and what I do now is enough to satisfy me.

Simple introduction.

Hello. I am someone studying computer engineering. I discovered pixel art as my artistic flair. I have been creating patterns and other elements quite prolifically, and I’ve decided to make my work available to those interested in it. Of course, I’ll also post things related to my other interests (namely engineering).
